Smart home sensors, switches and lighting
Smart home kit for monitoring and controlling things around your home, from sensors and smart plugs to switches, lights and hubs. The range includes Sonoff, Innr and Home Assistant hardware, with Zigbee, Wi-Fi and Matter options.
Choosing how it connects
- Zigbee is well suited to sensors and switches, particularly battery-powered ones. It uses relatively little power and operates separately from your Wi-Fi network.
- Wi-Fi devices connect directly to your network. They're a straightforward option for mains-powered devices such as plugs, relays and cameras.
- Matter is a smart home standard designed to work across platforms including Apple Home, Google Home and Home Assistant. Matter devices can use different underlying network technologies, so check the requirements of the particular device when choosing one for your setup.
Building a smart home
Start with the things you actually want to monitor or control. A door sensor can tell you when a door opens, a motion sensor can detect movement in a room, and a temperature and humidity sensor can monitor the conditions in a room.
For controlling appliances and lighting, there are wall switches and dimmers, relays and smart plugs. You can also add a radiator valve, garden watering timer or water leak sensor as your setup grows.
If you want to run your smart home locally, Home Assistant provides a central place to manage compatible devices and automations on your own network.
