PCIe Flex Cable for NVMe Base and Raspberry Pi 5

by Pimoroni

These cables give you a variety of options for connecting and placing your NVMe Base or NVMe Base Duo.

They have a 'one way' design with 16 pads at the Raspberry Pi 5 end and 18 pins at the NVMe Base end to prevent incorrect installation.

They are designed for PCIe Gen 3 speeds and support Gen 2 perfectly fine also.

PCIe GUIDe

The 35mm PCIe Pipe is the standard cable that ships with NVMe Base for a compact install.

The 50mm PCIe Pipe adds some length, while remaining in-spec so you can mount your NVMe Base more comfortably around an existing case. It allows for a wider range of mechanical setups and might also be handy if you want to mount your Base on top/alongside your RPi 5.

The straight 33mm PCIe Flex cable is the one you'll need for use with NVME Base Duo.

This was shipped quickly and arrived promptly here in the US. This cable was just what I needed to fit my NVME Base to a Raspberry Pi 5 inside of the Pibow case. It was precisely the correct length. :-)

The cables came rather quickly and in perfect condition. The original cable was damaged as I was putting the Pi 5 and the Pimoroni duo into a case. The grey/brown cable crimp on the pi broke so I ordered a new pi and cables. When the cables arrived I installed one into the duo board and then installed the two 970 NVMe drives. Then I pulled up the pi crimp and inserted the PCIe cable, pushing both sides of the crimp, one broke. I threw away the Pimoroni duo and cables and will use the pi 5 without PCIe.
