ATOM Lite ESP32 Development Kit

by M5Stack

A smart, ESP32-PICO based development kit with built in WiFi and Bluetooth, an indicator LED and a button - brilliant for Internet of Things projects!

These little guys have become firm favourites for our IoT projects, as they're great value, easy to mount places and come with their own built in housing, so you don't need to make an enclosure to protect them. There's a handy pinout diagram on the back of the case, and they work really nicely with Home Assistant and ESPHome if you want to quickly and easily set up a network of sensors.

Because they're so tiny (24mm x 24mm), they'd be also be ideal for incorporating into embeddable or wearable projects where space is at a premium. If you'd like moar lights we also sell an ATOM with an inbuilt LED matrix, and we also stock a compatible plug and play battery!

Cool little device (and I mean little). Works well with the Grove components. Pinouts/important pins nicely outlined on the case, including NeoPixel, Pushbutton and the Grove connector pinouts.

They are sooo small. But they are exactly what I need for ESPhome. I’m using them as BlueTooth relays with Home Assistant. They were dispatched promptly, thankyou.

Very convenient package - tiny board in tiny, robust enclosure with buttons. Wifi works well even positioned within a garden power supply enclosure, quite far from the wifi router.

These tiny ESP32 devices are brilliant for all sorts of projects. Plenty of support available on line. If you are used to Arduino or Raspberry Pi, programming is simple.

Incredible piece of kit - so small and so inexpensive, yet really powerful. I am using these to read temperature from all the radiators in my house and send the results over MQTT to a Raspberry Pi.

Performs well and is unbelievably small, though I do wish there was a thicker version with a built in battery as the Tailbat does make it significantly larger. While connected to WiFi the ESP chip does get fairly warm and this is noticeable through the casing of the ATOM Lite.

Terrific kit - I use these with ESPHome to connect various sensors and switches to Wifi and ultimately HomeKit. Make sure to pick up some grove cables, too - cut 'em in half to easy connections to just about anything.

The M5 Atoms I bought on Pimoroni turned out to be an excellent buy. They're a lot like having an M5StickC but without the display or battery, so ideal for smaller low power projects. And the size and plastic case make them ideal for swapping between projects: you just need some stripboard and header pins to make a little docking station and solder your circuit around it. So if you want to do a WiFi or Bluetooth project quickly and cheaply, that doeen't need many gpio pins, I'd definitely recommend trying one out.

This thing is an *amazing* piece of kit. The learning curve is as steep as you want to make it, and it is seriously backed-up by Espressif, M5 and a huge and remarkably helpful developer community. I absolutely love this thing, to the extent that I'm thinking of switching careers to embedded development. *That* good. Considering the price, it's worth buying three or four and seeing what you can get up to. I'm going to take a look at the interfacing options and practices, and then seeing what I can get done. Delivery was quick and reliable as ever from Pimoroni. I love these guys. In general - what's not to love?
