Teensy 4.1 Development Board

by PJRC

Teensy 4.1 features the fastest microcontroller and an expanded set of powerful peripherals in a 2.4 by 0.7 inch form factor.

Teensy 4.0 can be programmed using the Arduino IDE with Teensyduino add-on.

Technical Specifications Compared to Teensy 4.0

Teensy 4.1 & 4.0 use the same IMXRT1062, so most technical specifications are the same.

Please refer to the Teensy 4.0 page for common specifications and features.

Pinouts

Teensy 4.1 is designed to bring all general purpose I/O pins to breadboard friendly pads on the outside edges

Ethernet

To use the Ethernet port, a magjack and capacitor need to be connected.

This is currently available only as a DIY project using this OSH Park Shared Circuit Board.

Memory Expansion

The bottom side of Teensy 4.1 has locations to solder 2 memory chips.

The smaller location is meant for a PSRAM chip. The larger location is intended for flash memory.

USB Host

Teensy 4.1's USB Host port allow you to connect USB devices, like keyboards and MIDI musical instruments. A 5 pin header and a USB Host cable are needed to be able to plug in a USB device.

USB hubs may be used if more than 1 device is needed. See the USBHost_t36 examples for details.

Awesome power on this chip. I used to work with an Arduino Uno R3 but ran out of memory for my project -- the Teensy has no issues whatsoever and even has plenty enough memory for me to upload my code using PlatformIO. Additionally, the people over at the PJRC forum are extremely helpful. So you don't just pay here for the awesome product but also for the fantastic support experience.

Simply the best and most powerful MCU on the hobbiest market at the moment. Even the arduino setup works out of the box. So far I've tested I2C, SPI, Audio, USB audio, Rotary Encoder and SDIO card libs - all work flawlessly and fantastically well. Running some audio spectrum processing the Arm CMSIS libs for a 4096 FFT takes around 412us (0.4ms) including mag squared calcultions and all the various buffer copies - amazing stuff!

Very happy with speed of delivery. Have been looking at boards for some time but was not sure which one to go for, ESP32, auduino ect, but after seeing a video of the Teensy was really impressed with it's power & simplicity. I'm glad I made the wright choice. Am having a great time with it as programming the Teensy is strait forward & it just works. I think it it a great device that kids would also enjoy using as it is not too difficult to setup & program with a bit of help. What a great device. 10 out of 10 for Teensy.

As someone dealing with microcontrollers for the first time the teensy is excellent. Incredible performance for the size and while it doesn't have a massive community the examples that are part of the ide are really detailed.

I've used a few of these and the Teensy 4.0's too. Pleased with the processing power in such a small form factor. Arrived with no issues as usual.

I think I jave bought 4 or 5 of these now as they are far superior to most competitors and at a reasonable price. There is ample support online getting started with these boards. If you are used to arduino this is the next step, plus you can use the arduino IDE so no special software required.

Nice little board with quite a bit of juice and a lot of connection options. Really nice that you can use it as a USB host, and that it has pinouts for ethernet too. Haven't tested all the stuff it can do, as I mainly use mine to run a DirtyWave M8 tracker/synth.
