Sonoff Zigbee Human Presence Sensor

by Sonoff

This sensor uses radio waves to detect human presence. Use it to trigger automation effects when someone is using a specific area - even if they're sitting still!

Transform your home with the Sonoff Zigbee Human Presence Sensor, a Zigbee-enabled presence sensor powered by advanced 5.8GHz microwave radar technology. Whether you want lights to follow your footsteps or smarter energy savings, this sensor has you covered.

Security and Convenience

Use this human presence detection sensor to trigger alerts or activate security lighting, adding peace of mind to your home.

To use Zigbee devices, you’ll need a Zigbee-compatible USB dongle connected to an always-on computer (a Raspberry Pi is ideal!) or a dedicated smart home solution like the excellent Home Assistant Green (with Zigbee dongle) or the Sonoff iHost.

Let your smart home respond to you – human detected, magic activated! 🚪✨

What Is Zigbee?

Zigbee is a wireless standard enabling low-power, secure connections between smart devices. Widely used in home automation for devices such as thermostats, sensors, and locks, its energy efficiency allows some devices to operate for years on a single coin cell battery.

One of Zigbee’s greatest advantages is its local nature – no need for cloud subscriptions or even an internet connection. Everything can remain within your home, ensuring both high security and resilience against internet outages.

Top brands like IKEA, Philips Hue, Tuya, and Sonoff offer Zigbee-supported devices. This allows you to combine products from various manufacturers into one smart home setup, ensuring you’re not locked into a single vendor – brilliant!

With an indoor range of 10–100 metres and extended outdoor coverage, Zigbee’s mesh networking ensures reliable communication, even if some devices go offline. Its robust security features, including encryption and key protection, safeguard your smart home and keep it under your control.

Good quality, does exactly what it's advertised to do. I only bought the header, not the kit, but you can still use a hammer to gently prise this in place.

Easy for the header to lean to one side or the other (and easy to not spot this when installing) - could do with a note in the instructions about this as well as more comprehensive instructions generally. That said, it did work in the end and is a welcome solution for those without a soldering iron!

Does what it says! An easy way to add a header to a Raspberry Pi Zero without soldering. Just tap it in to place along the length of the header pins.

Excellent piece of kit if you are unable to solder like me. I have Parkinson's so i can't solder so this Hammer Header is just the job.

Great product which fits perfectly into the pi without the need to solder. Item was also promptly and securely delivered. Highly recommended

I wasn’t initially sure this was going to work 100% making good clean contacts. I watched the YouTube guide and followed suite. Well how easy it was. Worked perfectly. Slow and general and even taps across the header is the key. I’m rubbish at soldering so this was a revaluation. Very clever and simple and I think unique to Pimoroni. Well done and highly recommended.

Works well and well suited to the task. Would say that it's important to check continuity of the pins once pressed as I had a couple pins pushed too far through the first time.

I ordered a Keybow and remembered that my 1st gen Pi Zero didn’t have the GPIO pins. Since I can’t solder for toffee this was a very useful solution. Perfectly designed, a couple of taps on the jig with my pin hammer securely fixed the male header in place.

This hammer header works wonderfully, hold everything in position, smack it, done. Can recommend. If you're not very handy you should probably order the installation jig but it can be done without.

Everything was in order, although one could imagine a small note of instructions or tips included. How far the pins need to be run through and that sort of thing. Of course, all such information is fairly easily obtained on the internet. It was a lot easier than soldering, I can tell you that much.

Expected this to be a bit of a chore, but doing this in a vice was actually super easy and only took a few seconds. Would highly recommend a vice to do this but it stills works great, i intend to buy more to skip the chore of soldering

Great little item, exactly as ordered and easily hammered into the pi zero as advertised. I now have my inkyPHAT running on my pi zero :)

Great, easy and simple way to add a GPIO header to your new RPI Zero 2W. Be sure to follow the directions and keep an eye on how even the header is as you install it.

I can only evaluate the delivery which was extremely fast, I have not yet installed the straps but they seem to be of impeccable quality.

Works fine. Exactly as I would expect from this company. a very simple but effective way to secure the pins to a Zero Pimoroni always helpful and efficient

Much easier than soldering. You definitely need the jig to hold everything in position so it can be whacked into place with a hammer. I was over enthusiastic with one and pushed the pins all the way through, so take it steady!

Very high quality component. Great satisfaction with the speed of delivery. I never found them selling it here. I will be happy to return and shop again.

If you're not afraid to get the hammer out and start smacking your newly purchased board it will save you soldering 40 pins.... Nice.
