Choosing a Pico
Raspberry Pi Pico is a compact, affordable microcontroller board based on the RP2040. It has GPIO for connecting sensors, LEDs, motors, buttons and other hardware, and can be programmed in MicroPython, C or C++. The W models add Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- Pico and Pico W use the RP2040, a dual-core Arm Cortex-M0+ running at 133MHz, with 264KB of SRAM and 2MB of flash.
- Pico 2 and Pico 2 W use the RP2350, with dual-core Arm Cortex-M33 processors running at up to 150MHz, 520KB of SRAM and 4MB of flash.
- Pico Plus 2 and Pico Plus 2 W use the RP2350B, with dual-core Arm Cortex-M33 processors running at up to 150MHz, 520KB of SRAM, 8MB of PSRAM and 16MB of flash. Both have a Qw/ST connector.
- Pico LiPo 2 XL W uses the RP2350B at up to 150MHz, with 520KB of SRAM, 8MB of PSRAM and 16MB of flash. It also has a built-in LiPo charger and battery connector.
- Tiny 2350 puts the RP2350 into a smaller form factor, with 520KB of SRAM, 4MB of flash and a Qw/ST connector.
Where a W variant is available, it adds 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to the corresponding board.

Building with Pico
A Pico can be used on its own, but a pack or base can add useful hardware without much wiring. Display Pack and Explorer Base, for example, add displays, controls and connections for experimenting with Pico.
With our Pico Aboard range, the RP2040 or RP2350 is built directly into the product. That includes everything from Inky Frame e-paper displays to Plasma LED controllers and Presto.
