Tiny FX is our tiny RP2040-powered controller for bringing models, dioramas and miniature scenes to life with programmable lights and sound. It works with the small wired LEDs commonly used in LEGO-compatible lighting kits, but instead of leaving them permanently on you can fade, flash and sequence them to create proper lighting effects.
Tiny FX W adds Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for projects that you want to control wirelessly or connect to the network.
Adding lights and sound
Tiny FX is designed to work with small lights on thin, flexible wires that are easy to hide inside models and scenery. LED Dots are ideal for individual lamps, headlights and control panels, while LED Strips give you several lights along a single connection. The RGB LED Kit adds colour-changing effects.
For a different sort of glow, LED Noodles are flexible illuminated strands that work well for signs, sci-fi scenery and other continuous lines of light. Our Noodle Adapters let you connect them to Tiny FX without soldering.
If your scene needs lots of individual lights, the 6 Port Expansion Board connects up to six mono LEDs to a single output and has an adhesive backing so it can be tucked away inside your build. 2 Pin Cables can be used to extend the wiring where you need a little more reach.
Tiny FX can also play sound effects through a small speaker. Our adhesive-backed 8Ω 1W speaker is small enough to hide inside most models and sticks neatly in place.
Making things happen
Your effects can run automatically, respond to your code or be triggered by the outside world. Add a PIR Stick to make a model spring to life when somebody approaches, or use the Infrared Receiver and Remote to trigger different lights, sounds and sequences from across the room.
Powering your project
For portable models, the 3 x AAA battery holder provides a simple self-contained power source. You can also power Tiny FX over USB using our USB power cables. If you're trying to keep the wiring invisible, flat right-angle and extension USB-C cables are easier to route through tight spaces and behind scenery.
