Adafruit seesaw is a near-universal converter framework which allows you to add and extend hardware support to any I2C-capable microcontroller or microcomputer. Instead of getting separate I2C GPIO expanders, ADCs, PWM drivers, etc, seesaw can be configured to give a wide range of capabilities.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eFinally, with \u003ca href=\"\/en-eu\/collections\/stemma-qt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003eSTEMMA QT connectors\u003c\/a\u003e on it, you could use it as either an I2C controller or peripheral with plug-and play support.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ol\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAdafruit primarily designed this board for their own use: it's a mini dev board that lets you design with the ATtiny817 \u003ca href=\"\/en-eu\/products\/adafruit-atsamd09-breakout-with-seesaw\" target=\"_blank\"\u003ejust like they did for the ATSAMD09\u003c\/a\u003e. With the 2021 silicon shortage, they're adapting some of their SAMD09 designs to the ATTiny8xx series and wanted a quick minimal board to test code on.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach breakout comes with the assembled and tested board, as well as some header strips. Each PCB is fairly minimal and contains:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eATtiny817 8-bit microcontroller\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e8KB flash, 512 bytes of RAM, 128 bytes of EEPROM\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eInternal oscillator can run up to 20MHz\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eInternal hardware multiplier\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCan run from 2V to 5V power\/logic (check the datasheet for max speed at desired power)\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003e3.3V regulator\u003c\/strong\u003e - by default we run at the Vin voltage, which can be 5V, but there's a solder jumper on the bottom if you'd like to select 3V logic.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGreen power LED\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eRed indicator LED\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eTwo STEMMA QT I2C connectors\u003c\/strong\u003e with 10K pullup resistors, connected to pins 10 and 11\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/adafruit\/Adafruit_seesawPeripheral\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eThis board comes pre-programmed with seesaw peripheral code\u003c\/a\u003e that will let it act as an \"I2C to something\" converter, basically a little I2C-controlled friend to do all the timing-sensitive things many microcontrollers and microcomputers are not good at.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor example, using this breakout with the pre-burned seesaw firmware gives you\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e14 x GPIO with selectable pullup resistors\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e9 x 10-bit ADC inputs - pins 0, 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 18, 19, 20\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e5 x 8-bit PWM outputs - pins 0, 1, 9, 12, 13\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e1 x NeoPixel output (up to 60 pixels)\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e1 x EEPROM with 127 byte of NVM memory (handy for storing small access tokens or MAC addresses) - last byte of EEPROM is used for I2C address selection\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e1 x Interrupt output that can be triggered by any of the accessories - pin 15\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e2 x I2C address selection pins - pins 16 and 17\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e1 x Activity LED on pin 5, tied active low\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOf course you can configure or reprogram the chip to however you want to use it - \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/SpenceKonde\/megaTinyCore\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eAdafruit like using SpenceKonde's megaTinyCore which brings Arduino peripheral support\u003c\/a\u003e to this series of chips. To program the chip \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/SpenceKonde\/megaTinyCore\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eyou will need a 'UPDI' programmer\u003c\/a\u003e, which you can make with a \u003ca href=\"\/en-eu\/products\/usb-to-uart-serial-console-cable\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eUSB-to-Serial cable\u003c\/a\u003e and a single 4.7K or 10K resistor.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePlease note:\u003c\/strong\u003e The boards do not come with a bootloader. If you want to do development on seesaw (e.g. changing the configuration) you need a separate UPDI programming setup! \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/adafruit\/Adafruit_seesawPeripheral\/blob\/main\/examples\/example_pid5233\/example_pid5233.ino\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eThe firmware Adafruit put on is available as this example sketch\u003c\/a\u003e, compiled using the megaTinyCore.
